the game is over - everyone is now allowed to discuss and reveal in full. things sure did happen fast and furious during night 6. there several who wished they had used their items earlier in the game.
here is a little summation of the nightly events
n3 - akk killed goryh
n4 - ajs killed npat
n5 - blue tried to kill death
n6 - 6 players picked the theater. 2 were ghosts and 4 alive - therefore 2oc and kc were eliminated. blue also picked the theater but changed to the pool when he was about to get lynched. if he had stayed = no ghosts would have been eliminated.
cwolf killed goryh w a revolver/bullet, cwolf killed zen w a rope/pulley, death shot akk, akk stabbed death
- akk's kill on death almost did not go thru. as a matter of fact, i had already written (and posted) the results showing that death was still alive going into day 7 when i saw akk's last minute kill request. if that had not happened = it would have been 2 equal factions left and would have likely been a tie vote leaving it up to the ghosts to break the tie. at that point there would have been 6 ghosts going into night 7 and 3 living = it is very likely that a living would have been outnumbered in a room leaving just 2 players alive again having the ghost vote decide the game = = = all to say - it was very near a different outcome.
all in all very close game.
that left abs and ajs in the same faction against cwolf.
summary - phone jerks abs, ajs, and blue wongreat game all - congrats to zen and death on their 1st game and surviving until the very end. i hope you are hooked.
the last night there were many requests to gift items, leave items in rooms, steal items - but none changed the killing outcomes.
some mechanics not published were
- 1 person each night that picked the sports deck was injured and sent to the infirmary and got 1st pick of items
- if a player requested the buffet more than once = he instead got sent to the sports deck to work off some calories
- if a player picked the pool the next night after the buffet - he got cramps for swimming too soon after stuffing himself (which is not really harmful) but still had to go to the infirmary - he got last pick of items for being so foolish.
game facts - there were over 670 forum posts.there were over1,850 PM post for me to read
here is everyone's faction and name - 4 factions, 3 players in each. phone jerks, oblivious parents, buffet brutes, and elevator hogs
blue, abs, ajs - phone jerks
there are several kinds of irritating people on a cruise ship that most passengers and crew do not like very much. one of these is the "phone jerks". this tends to be teens and 20 somethings but can also include chatty middle aged women and businessmen who "need" to be working. all the above tend to talk loudly whenever they want to and may even have it on speakerphone. they also use speak to text, especially in the formal dining room and the theater. they are also the ones that will be videoing the show with their screen on the brightest setting even after the announcement forbidding video recording or flash photography. somewhat unrelated, but, they will be the ones that get up to leave from a middle seat down front during the last segment of the show so they can be the 1st ones out of the theater.
oblivious parents - 2oc, npat, goryh (who later became a buffet brute)
there are several kinds of irritating people on a cruise ship that most passengers and crew do not like very much. one of these is the "oblivious parents". their attitude seems to be that they are on vacation and so are their pre-teen children so they are free to wander the ship and wreak whatever havoc they want to. their kids clearly have been given no boundaries or behavioral guidelines. you most often see the parents ignoring their kids while the juveniles are man-handling the food at the buffet, or piling up soft serve ice cream cones to the point that there is zero percent chance they will make it to wherever they are going without it tumbling over. most of the time the parents are nowhere to be seen while their kids splash and horseplay in the adults only hot tub or run screaming down the hallways
buffet brute - zen, akk, gen e (who was replaced by goryh)
there are several kinds of irritating people on a cruise ship that most passengers and crew do not like very much. one of these is the "buffet brute". buffet brutes tend to break line - "let me just pop in here to get another piece of fried chicken". they also tend to grab food with their bare hands and may move a couple of drumsticks out of the way to better reach the breast. they will often have 2 plates that they are filling to overflow to the point of the meatloaf dripping on the floor as they balance their plates along with a few desserts. then when you see them finally leave their table - you notice that they went back for 2 other plates and only ate about a third of what they scooped up. this is your faction. during covid - when cruises finally resumed - servers behind the counter did all of dishing out of food which kinda helped with this problem. another improvement that came to cruising from covid is that passengers no longer have to attend the safety meeting at your lifeboat assembly station - you just watch the lifevest instructions on the tv in your room. also, a lot more people actually take advantage of the washy, washy stations.
elevator hogs - cwolf, kc, death
there are several kinds of irritating people on a cruise ship that most passengers and crew do not like very much. one of these is the "elevator hog". elevator hogs will try to cram into an elevator that already full. this is especially bothersome on embarkation day when they are trying to get all their luggage in with them. they may also lean up against panel and accidentally press all the buttons.. there are some elevator hogs that will push several buttons because they can not make up their mind about where they are going. this is your faction. this not quite the problem on MSC because the elevator buttons are on the outside and you must decide which floor you are going to and the ship tells you which elevator to board - you can not change it once inside.
name categories were - first names only were given - all had 5 letters in them - 4 groups with 3 players in each
- real names of superheroes - zen - peter (parker), abs - bruce (wayne or banner), kc - clark (kent)
- sports legends - 2oc - usain (bolt), death - tiger (woods), blue - novak (djokovic)
- star trek characters - akk - spock, ajs - seven (of nine), npat - bones
- deceased country music stars - goryh - merle (haggard), cwolf - dolly (parton), gen e - patsy (cline)
there were 7 rooms - each room started with 6 items in it - all had a dagger and a vest plus 4 other items
we started with 7 daggers, 7 vests, 5 gloves, 5 ropes, 4 bullets, 4 antidotes, 3 poisons, 3 revolvers, 2 pulleys, 2 trash bags
there were 12 different cruise lines listed as favorites = Crystal, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Princess, MSC, Disney, Holland America, Viking, Virgin, Cunard, and Celebrity. there 4 levels of sailing club memberships = silver, gold, platinum, and diamond. there were 5 favorite cruise destinations = the carribean, the bahamas, the panama canal, europe, and mexico. there were 4 cabin grades = inside cabin, ocean view, balcony, and suite - - - none of these factors had any relevance to the game.
several figured out that gen e's name was patsy after 4 of the letters in his name were revealed - 2oc then announced it publicly. blue figured out akk's name was spock but did not steal anything.
some of the ghosts wanted to organize and go to the same room to outnumber the living in that room - but with 1 secret message each = there was no way to communicate which room to go to with more than 1 other ghost. and most ghosts wanted to use their 1 message to send vital info to their known faction members.
this certainly ended a little sooner than i expected after the conservative start when most were reluctant to use their weapons before they knew for sure who was in their faction or name group. i didn't know if the name associations would slow down the killing or not - but it did slightly. but it is over just in time for me to leave on my next real cruise. a 12 night cruise to the panama canal next week on Norwegian.
see you on the next one
