Started a map of South America per the request of Hoodlum here

Wanted to stop at the general outline, with only the territories of Brazil drawn and open things up to feedback/ideas.

Open to suggestions, theme, really anything.. or it could just be a straight South America map much like the United States.

Obviously enlarged the Galapagos Islands to make them playable, but not stuck to it. Territories of Brazil (they are Brazil's states) in different shades of green to highlight their borders with each other and what is where across the major rivers of the continent. Not tied to any of the rivers needing to necessarily stay as is, but these were what consistently came up when researching the major rivers of South America.

initial thoughts.
before reading the text, i was wondering what those islands were. after reading it, i was wondering if then the falklands should be added in the same way. right now as is, it seems weird to look at (those islands), but it could work with being scaled down a bit more, maybe fit a frame around it, adding a port for gameplay. just ideas im rolling with right now.
i've drawn the map myself a handful of times, and never thought about stretching it (horizontally) for fit like you have done here, makes me wanna experiment with what i have, that might be the way to go.
but yeah. i think we need a South America map.

I agree about the Falklands and actually had them in my original draw, will definitely bring them back in next edit.

Not a bad thought about the Galapagos and anchor/box zoom.

Funny about the stretch.. I drew it and was like, noo.. this has to get fatter!

Happy to colab a bit with ya here Hoodie, it was your desire, don't be shy with the ideas!

regarding islands: look at the east indies map, there are some territories cut out from the main map and are pictured in a separate frame. maybe you can do it the same way with gaoapagos and falkland.

on regions and territories: some territories could be too smal to fit the circle, especially the most eastern one. also when you add bonuses, make sure that they are more or less equally destributed. the western part has many larger regions and eastern is comppsed mostly of smaller regions. its not a problem, but you have to work around it smhow. maybe make a barrier/unpassable in the center to divide both map parts (amazonas forest? or pieces of forest the way hoodlum is done it on nga toa map? or maybe a one huge forest with few paths through the forest as passages? mayne some kind of river connection?)

Yeah, I quite liked Hoodlums idea for the island cut out, gives some flexibility regarding placement as well. Thanks for the reference point!

Yes, I think I'd like to get each country's territories/states drawn first before dialing in on the logistics totally, but I agree, I can already see some issues with sizing, bonuses, etc. You're right I think that this is likely a map that will need to utilize barriers too.

Zoom boxes, need a little clean up of the triangle to the square box (eliminating the line between), but want to keep as objects for now so they're editable.

Think this part turned out quite nice, but seeing it live, I notice that the Falklands do need shifted down and left some.

Added a circle just for referencing size. Think it's clear that the 5 territories of brazil in the easternmost tip will have to be scaled down to 3-1 territories.

Probably makes sense to make Brazil 2-4 different regions, even with scaling down those 5 territories as a whole it'd be 22-24 territories. Thinking that 3 regions sounds about right, with likely 6-ish+ territories per region.

Likely that Guinea, Suriname, and Guyana need to be 1 region, maybe even combine with Venezuela. Probably also makes sense to combine Ecuador/Peru or Ecuador/Colombia as well as Uruguay/Argentina and Paraguay/Bolivia.

Just thinking out loud some, need to see what the "state" borders actually make things look like.

Tabling Brazil for now. Almost seems fun to be a huge super-region, but also near impossible until end game. Regardless, made sense to move into other region territories, which I'll continue at and then circle back to Brazil unless discussion/ideas pop up.

1. Combined Guiana, Suriname, and Guyana to form the purple 4 territory region. Think this works well.
2. Worked at Venezuela, which has way more territories than shown.. reduced to 7.
3. Cleaned up the rivers - where possible redirected to territory/region borders. Removed excessive "off-shoots".
4. Adjusted some region/territory borders to fit circles and territory names appropriately as possible.
5. Title added
6. Start of map key

Updated work to this point:
1. All regions have territories named and dotted except Brazil and Uruguay
2. White/Black anchors added, more connections to come on east side black anchors
3. Mountain range added between Chile and Argentina
4. Bonuses calculated for all named/dotted regions
5. Connection lines drawn for islands
6. Falkland Islands shifted upward slightly

15 regions, 93 territories.

1. Brazil divided into 4 regions
2. All brazil region territories named and dotted
3. Black and white anchors distributed
4. Falklands recolored to be independent
5. Mini-map redone, all region bonuses calculated

Design elements largely done. I haven't done any bridges as of yet, but would like feedback where bridges should be in your eyes. Awaiting feedback from mostly finished product.

1. Added Passable/Impassable to map key
2. Added region names to map key for easier strategy/navigation
3. Added obvious inter-regional bridges

Considering increasing territory count in Norte and Centro-Oesta regions.. would love thoughts on this.

1. Central-Oesta: Splitting Mato Grosso into 2 territories, increasing regional territory count from 6 to 7, thereby increasing region bonus from 4 to 5.
2. Norte: Splitting Amazonas into 3 territories (making two on the north side of the Amazon River), Splitting Para into 3 territories (one on north side of Amazon River and one on the Southeast side of Amazon River), increasing regional territory count from 5 to 9, thereby increasing region bonus from 4 to 7.
3. This would increase territory count of the map from 93 territories to 98 territories.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm kind of excited about this one too :)

1. Norte region split further into 9 territories, total territory count of map increased to 97 in 15 regions. (Added Tefe, Manaus, Santarem, and Sao Luis territories)
2. Added necessary bridges in Norte region.
3. Cleaned up passable/impassable key images.
4. Updated Norte region bonus.

Kind of digging the map as is, but absolutely open to any further suggestions/ideas.

there is no need for them to be in a square falkland and galapagoa,,minimpap shoud be smaller size and those bridges are too much there maybe reduce some around that territory amazonas
