play around a bit. i think the time table coukd be good to fill the empty space, also adds more to the map theme.

changed the white lines to dots, i think they look better with the new rivers.

played around with images. i think the upper one isnt very good, but the lower one fits well.

added a frame.

what do u think?

maybe adding these trees that you had in the first versions would improve the map by filling the empty spaces

Or look at this possible map outlay. I did it quickly, just to show the main odea, maybe you can remake it in a similar way. Colors, opacity, pictures etc, can be chanhed, i just took random stuff. Its important to have light colors and low opacitiy, to not to overload the map.

Rivers and borders look to similar to me, especially Eufrate and Tigros, sometimes i see bridges first and only after that i realize there is a river. In a game it could be tricky. But very good map, looking forward to play on it.

i stumbled on this map through google search lol. i barely remember making it. but it's in the map dabble thread LINK. I don't think i have the original source file, but it was still visible on imgur. (i might have some other old projects on there) could be used as a reference. I don't know too much about the area, but matty at the time (6 years ago) said it would be cool to have an alexander the great theme. thought i'd post it in this thread

Very nice map Hood! No minimap of course, but I believe in making exceptions when necessary. Looking at the borders between territories, I have to ask where your source material is from, because many of the borders seem to me to be misplaced or made up. If the map is based on a certain time period, then it should definitely have the date on the map somewhere to avoid confusion.

I'ts very nice, but I see that the territory between Syria and Egypt has got no name. It might be a problem. And it's Cilicia, not Cicilia.
For once a map without small regions everywhere, I like that too. Perhaps it has not an exact reference date, but we can try to more-or-lessy establish the period.

Alexander the Great's empire was a Greek empire (or call it Macedon), not Persian. So I think this map deserves its own forum thread.

i don't have any plans on pursuing the map. just stumbled upon it, and just remembered there was an alexander the great theme project. has a decent look to it
@Virt. i don't remember where the original source material came from. i might of just whipped this up in a day. i think there might be another very basic version of it that i used for another risk site that i am (was) a cartographer on, (which i haven't visited for years), and the project was initially for that, but i may have mocked up this one to see if it would work for d12. come to think about it, i believe that's what i did, and really just forgot about it. at the time, i was focused on zealandia for d12, by the looks of the timeline in the map dabble
